Dragon Boat Racing

Dragon Boat Racing has established itself as the UK's favourite mass participation water sport so if you have not tried it yet - now is your chance!

What is Dragon Boat Racing?

Dragon Boats are based on traditional Chinese craft propelled by a crew using paddles. The boats are 40 foot long and hold a crew from 10 to 16 plus a drummer who beats the time and a qualified helm who steers the vessel.

Who can take part?

Taking part in a Dragon Boat Race is fantastic fun and a great team building activity for businesses, community groups, students and anyone up for a fun filled challenge! No previous experience or level of fitness is required and all age groups, including mixed gender crews can take part. It is not compulsory, but crew 'uniform' and even fancy dress really adds to the atmosphere!

The Dragon Boat event at the Two Cities Boat Race will take place alongside the Regatta on Saturday 8th May 2010. The event is open to everyone - so get a group of friends, family or colleagues together and join the fun!

The Two Cities Boat Race is the fastest growing water sport event in the region and the combination of the University Rowing Clubs Regatta and the Dragon Boat races make for a unique day out.
