The 40th Annual Two Cities Boat Race
The University of Manchester and University of Salford raced again on Saturday 7th May 2011 for the 40th anniversary of the event. It was one of the closest events, with the Men's Senior VIII only just falling into Manchester's hands by 0.85 secs in the last 200m.
Whilst the event was lower key than in previous years, both clubs were heavily engaged in the staging of the event and agree that in terms of rivalry and fun, it was one of the best! Results were as follows with The University of Manchester winning 5-2 overall:-
| Race | Winner | Margin (seconds) | |
| Men's Single Sculls | Manchester | 2.0 | |
| Lady's Single Sculls | Salford | 3.7 | |
| Mixed Alumni VIII | Salford | 2.0 | |
| Lady's Novice IV | Manchester | 7.9 | |
| Men's Novice VIII | Manchester | 4.7 | |
| Ladys's Senior IV | Manchester | 7.4 | |
| Men's Senior VIII | Manchester | 0.85 |
